Vasily Ivanov, born on November 8, 1972, is a famous swimmer from Russia. He was known for his powerful breaststroke swimming. Vasily won a silver medal at the 1992 Summer Olympics. He also set a world record in the 100-meter breaststroke.

A Champion Swimmer

Vasily Ivanov was a very successful swimmer. He specialized in sprint races. These are short, fast swimming events. He was especially good at the breaststroke style.

Olympic and World Medals

Vasily earned a silver medal at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, Spain. This was for the 4×100 meter medley relay race. A relay race is when a team of swimmers each swim a part of the total distance.

He also won another silver medal at the 1994 World Aquatics Championships in Rome, Italy. This was also in the 4×100 meter medley relay.

Life After Swimming

Vasily Ivanov retired from professional swimming around 1994 or 1995. After his swimming career, he worked as a vice-president for a housing company in Samara, Russia.
