Vera, Missouri facts for kids

Vera is a small place in Pike County, Missouri. It's called an "unincorporated community." This means it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town. Instead, it's part of the larger county.

Vera is about 5.5 miles northeast of a town called Bowling Green. It sits right along US Route 54, which is a main road. A stream named Noix Creek flows near the northern part of the community.

History of Vera

Vera once had its own post office. This post office opened in 1902. It helped people send and receive mail for many years. The post office closed down in 1942.

The community was named by an early settler. He decided to name it after his daughter, whose name was Vera Spears. For a while, the community was also known by another name: "Watson."
