Verica Kalanović is a well-known politician from Serbia. She was born in 1954. She has held several important jobs in the Serbian government.
From 2012 to 2013, she was the Minister of Regional Development and Local Self-Government. Before that, she was the Minister of National Investment Plan from 2008 to 2012. She also served as the Deputy Prime Minister of Serbia from 2011 to 2012.

Her Early Life and Education
Verica Kalanović was born in a town called Trstenik in Serbia. She went to the Faculty of Technology and Metallurgy in Belgrade. She finished her studies there in 1977. Later, in 1980, she earned a master's degree from the same university.
Her First Jobs
After finishing her education, Verica Kalanović worked at a company called Prva Petoletka in Trstenik. She was there from 1980 to 1993. Then, from 1993 to 2003, she became a professor. She taught at a technical school in Trstenik.
From 2000 to 2001, she was part of the local government in Trstenik. She was a member of the Trstenik municipality executive council.
Her Work in Government
Verica Kalanović became very active in politics. From 2003 to 2006, she led a group of politicians from the G17 Plus party. This group was in the parliament of Serbia and Montenegro.
She was also in charge of a special committee. This committee focused on economic relations and money matters. She was also part of Serbia and Montenegro's team in the Council of Europe. There, she worked on a committee that dealt with local and regional development.
Important Ministerial Roles
From 2007 to July 2008, she worked as a State Secretary. This was in the Ministry of Economy and Regional Development.
On July 7, 2008, she was chosen for a big job. She became the Minister for National Investment Plan. She held this position until September 2, 2013. At that time, there was a change in the government, and she left her role.
