Verica Kalanović (Serbian Cyrillic: Верица Калановић; born in 1954) is a politician from Serbia. She held several important jobs in the Serbian government. From 2012 to 2013, she was the Minister of Regional Development and Local Self-Government. Before that, she served as the Minister of National Investment Plan from 2008 to 2012. She was also the Deputy Prime Minister of Serbia from 2011 to 2012.

Early Life and Education

Verica Kalanović was born in Trstenik, a town in Serbia. She went to the University of Belgrade. In 1977, she earned her first degree in technology and metallurgy. She continued her studies and received a master's degree in 1980.

Working Life and Politics

After finishing her studies, Verica Kalanović worked at a company called Prva Petoletka in Trstenik from 1980 to 1993. Later, she became a professor at a technical school in Trstenik, teaching there from 1993 to 2003. She also helped run the local government in Trstenik from 2000 to 2001.

Verica Kalanović became a key figure in the G17 Plus political party. From 2003 to 2006, she led the G17 Plus group in the parliament of Serbia and Montenegro. During this time, she also chaired a special committee in parliament that dealt with money and business. She represented her country in the Council of Europe, an organization that works to promote human rights and democracy. She was also part of a committee focused on local areas and their growth within the Council of Europe.

In 2007, she became a State Secretary in the Ministry of Economy and Regional Development. This job lasted until July 2008.

Government Roles

On July 7, 2008, Verica Kalanović was chosen to be the Minister for National Investment Plan. This role involved managing important projects for the country. She held this position until September 2, 2013, when she left due to changes in the government.
