The Deputy Prime Minister of Serbia is an important helper to the Prime Minister of Serbia. Think of them as a vice president for the government. Their main job is to support the Prime Minister and help run the country.
Often, there are several Deputy Prime Ministers at the same time. This usually happens when different political parties work together to form a government. Each main party in the group gets a Deputy Prime Minister position. This helps them all work together smoothly.

What is a Deputy Prime Minister?
A Deputy Prime Minister is a high-ranking official in the government. They assist the Prime Minister with their duties. They can also be in charge of a specific government department, like finance or internal affairs.
Their role is to make sure the government's plans are carried out. They help lead different parts of the government. This makes the government more efficient and organized.
History of the Office
The job of Deputy Prime Minister in Serbia started on 11 February 1991. The first government to have these roles was led by Dragutin Zelenović. Back then, four people held the title: Slobodan Prohaska, Velimir Radivojević, Nikola Stanić, and Jovan Zebić.
Since then, it has been common to have several Deputy Prime Ministers at once. For example, in one government led by Zoran Đinđić, there were eight Deputy Prime Ministers. Sometimes, a Deputy Prime Minister also leads a specific ministry, like the Ministry of Finance.
Who are the Current Deputy Prime Ministers?
As of now, Serbia has four Deputy Prime Ministers. They are:
- Siniša Mali (since 26 October 2022)
- Ivica Dačić (since 26 October 2022)
- Irena Vujović (since 2 May 2024)
- Aleksandar Vulin (since 2 May 2024)
These individuals help the Prime Minister manage different areas of the government. They play a key role in Serbia's daily operations.
