About the Amphitheater

This outdoor concert venue first opened its doors in 1996. It was built to host large music events. The amphitheater has two main seating areas. There are 7,500 seats under a covered pavilion. Behind these seats, there is a big lawn area. This lawn can hold 12,500 people. Part of the lawn is also covered by the pavilion.

You can rent small lawn chairs if you have lawn tickets. You can also bring your own blankets to sit on. The venue has five parking lots right next to it. Parking fees are usually included in your ticket price.

Name Changes Over Time

When the amphitheater first opened in 1996, it was called the GTE Virginia Beach Amphitheater. Over the years, its name changed a few times. This often happens when different companies sponsor the venue.

  • From 1996 to 2005, it was the GTE Virginia Beach Amphitheater.
  • Then, from 2005 to 2010, it was known as the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater.
  • For a short time in 2010, it was simply the Virginia Beach Amphitheater.
  • In 2011, it became Farm Bureau Live at Virginia Beach.
  • Since January 2016, it has been called the Veterans United Home Loans Amphitheater at Virginia Beach.

  • Phish played a special song called "Terrapin Station" on August 9, 1998. This was their only time performing that song.
  • The band P.O.D. filmed their music video for "Satellite" here. They shot it on July 21, 2002, during the FM99 Lunatic Luau. They played the song three times to get all the footage they needed!
  • Bruce Springsteen performed a concert on April 12, 2014. Over 15,000 fans came to see him during his High Hopes Tour.
