The Vice President of the Abkhaz Republic is an important leader in Abkhazia. Abkhazia is a territory that many countries consider part of Georgia. However, Abkhazia sees itself as an independent country.
The Vice President is like a backup for the President of Abkhazia. If the President cannot do their job because they resign, are removed, or pass away, the Vice President steps in. They also take over if the President becomes unable to carry out their duties.

Who Can Be Vice President?
To become Vice President, a person must meet certain rules. These rules are in Abkhazia's Constitution.
Age and Citizenship
A person must be a citizen of Abkhazia. They need to be at least 35 years old. They cannot be older than 65 years old. They must also have the right to vote. This right to vote is called suffrage.
Other Jobs
The Vice President cannot be a member of the Parliament. They also cannot hold other jobs in the government. This includes jobs in public groups or businesses.
How is the Vice President Chosen?
The Vice President is chosen at the same time as the President. When someone runs for President, they pick a person to be their Vice President. Voters then choose both of them together.

The Vice President carries out special tasks given by the President. They help the President with their work.

If the President is away, the Vice President acts in their place. They also take over if the President cannot attend to their duties for any reason.
