The Vice President of Namibia is a very important leader in the country. This person helps the President run the government. Think of them as the President's main helper and backup!
The Vice President is the second-highest leader in Namibia. They are like a deputy head of state and head of government. If the President is away or cannot do their job, the Vice President steps in as the acting President. The Vice President is also a member of the National Assembly (the country's parliament) and the Cabinet (the group of top government officials).
The job of Vice President was created in 2014. This happened when some changes were made to Namibia's Constitution. The Vice President's role is to help the President with government duties. The President can also give them special tasks or areas to focus on.
Nickey Iyambo was the very first Vice President of Namibia. He served from 2015 to 2018. Currently, Lucia Witbooi is the Vice President. She started her role on March 22, 2025.
