Lucia Witbooi was born in 1961. She is an important leader in Namibia. Since March 21, 2025, she has been the fourth and current Vice President of Namibia. She works alongside President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah.
Lucia Witbooi is a member of the SWAPO political party. She was first chosen to be part of Namibia's National Assembly in 2009. Before becoming a politician, she worked as a teacher in Gibeon. She went to Suiderlig High School in Keetmanshoop.

Early Life and School
Lucia Witbooi was born in a place called Gabes, Namibia. She went to Suiderlig Senior Secondary School in Keetmanshoop. She finished her Grade 12 certificate there in 1979.
Becoming a Teacher
Lucia Witbooi spent many years as a teacher. She taught for 27 years! She earned several teaching qualifications. In 1996, she received a Higher Primary Education Certificate from the University of Namibia (UNAM). She also got a Diploma in Education in 1997. In 1999, she earned a Higher Diploma in Education.
Before becoming a politician, she was the Head of Department at Dr. W.M Jod Primary School in 2009. She also helped organize support for students in Gibeon schools from 2003 to 2009.
Entering Politics
Lucia Witbooi became a member of the National Assembly of Namibia in 2009. This was after the 2009 Namibian general election. The National Assembly is where laws are made for the country. Her work there led her to become the Vice President.

The Vice President is a very important role in a country's government. They work closely with the President. They help lead the country and make big decisions. The Vice President often steps in if the President is unable to perform their duties. They also represent their country at important events.
