Vicente Juan Pascual Pastor (born June 3, 1865, in Alcoy – died February 2, 1941, in Alcoy) was a famous Spanish architect. He was one of the most important architects of the Art Nouveau in Alcoy and the Valencian Art Nouveau styles. Art Nouveau is a beautiful and flowing style of art and architecture.
Life and Career
Vicente Pascual Pastor studied at the Barcelona School of Architecture. In 1891, he became the official architect for the city of Alcoy. He also taught at the School of Arts and Trades in Alcoy, becoming its director in 1903.
From 1909 to 1913, he served as the mayor of Alcoy. As mayor, he helped build modern and healthy homes for workers. He was also involved in important local groups like Alcoy's Savings Bank and the Alcoy Industrial Circle. In 1916, he married Elena Perez and had children.
Vicente Pascual's Art Nouveau style was very rich and detailed. It was directly influenced by French and Belgian Art Nouveau designs. Most of his more than 60 projects were built in Alcoy. He also designed interesting buildings in Bocairent and Banyeres de Mariola.
