Banyeres de Mariola is a town in the north of Alicante province in Spain. It is also known simply as Banyeres. The town is located high up, about 860 meters (2,820 feet) above sea level.
Around 7,500 people live in Banyeres de Mariola. The main job for people here is working in the textile industry. The town has an old Moorish castle built in 1214. Banyeres is surrounded by beautiful mountains, along with many almond and olive trees.
Every year, from April 22nd to 25th, the town celebrates the Moros i Cristians festival. This festival remembers when Christians defeated the Moorish rulers in the 13th century. It's a colorful event with parades, special costumes, and fireworks.
