Victoria Aveyard is an American author. She writes exciting fantasy stories for young adults. She is famous for her book Red Queen. Victoria also writes scripts for movies and TV shows. She wrote Red Queen a year after finishing her screenwriting studies in 2012.
Victoria's Early Life
Victoria Aveyard was born on July 27, 1990. She grew up in a small town in Massachusetts. Her parents were both teachers. When she was 18, Victoria moved to California. She went to the University of Southern California. There, she learned how to write scripts for movies. Today, she lives in Santa Monica with her husband and dog. She has Scottish and Italian family roots.
Her Writing Career
Victoria Aveyard finished her first novel, Red Queen, after college. She was inspired to write it because she had student loan debt. She wanted to find a way to pay it off. Red Queen was published in 2015. It received many good reviews. People liked its story and surprising plot twists.
Red Queen won the Goodreads Choice Award for Best Debut Author. After this book, Victoria wrote three sequels and one prequel. These books continued the Red Queen story.
Originally, Red Queen was planned to be a movie series. Later, it was announced that it would be a TV show. The show is on Peacock, a streaming service. Victoria Aveyard even wrote the first script for the TV show. Before the show even started, it was renewed for a second season!
In 2021, Victoria released another book. It is called Realm Breaker. This book became a number one bestseller. It topped The New York Times Best Sellers list for young adult hardcover books.
