Victoria Square is a big shopping center in Belfast, Northern Ireland. It has more than 60 shops, 16 places to eat, and an Odeon movie theater. This huge building opened on March 6, 2008. It took six years to build this amazing place for shopping, living, and fun. One of its main stores is the largest House of Fraser (now called Frasers) in the whole UK.

Building Victoria Square

Victoria Square was built by a company called Multi Development UK Ltd. The main architects who designed it were Building Design Partnership and T+T Design. This project was one of the biggest and most expensive buildings ever made in Northern Ireland. It cost about £400 million to build.

Cool Features of the Design

The shopping center has two covered streets with many levels. These streets connect to a huge glass dome. This dome is 37 meters wide and 45 meters tall! Underneath the glass dome is a public square. This square is the heart of the whole area.

An old fountain, called the Jaffe Fountain, is also in Victoria Square. It was built in the 1870s. It has been put back in its original spot. You can easily walk from Victoria Square to other busy streets nearby. These include Laganside, Donegall Place, Royal Avenue, and Ann Street.

A large part of the roof is covered with a special plant called Sedum. This helps to make Victoria Square more eco-friendly. It reduces the building's carbon footprint.

What You Can Find Inside

Victoria Square has about 75,000 square meters of shops. These shops are spread out over four floors. There is also a large underground parking area. It has two levels and space for about 1,000 cars.

The shopping area includes 98 different shops. For fun, there's an 8-screen Odeon Cinema. You can also find many restaurants, bars, and cafés to enjoy.

The building also includes 106 apartments where people can live.
