Viera Janárčeková (born September 23, 1941, died May 14, 2023) was a talented Slovakian musician. She was known as both a pianist and a composer.
Her Life Story
Viera Janárčeková was born in Svit, Slovakia. She loved music from a young age. She studied two instruments: the harpsichord and the piano. She learned these at the State Conservatory in Bratislava. Later, she continued her studies at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. She also had a special teacher named Rudolf Firkušný in Lucerne.
After finishing her education in 1967, Viera began her career. She taught music to others. She also performed as a pianist, playing for audiences. In 1972, she moved to Homberg, Germany. From 1981, she focused more on writing her own music. She became a full-time composer. In 2000, she was invited to be a "composer-in-residence." This meant she was a special guest composer at the International Festival in Lockenhaus.
Viera Janárčeková passed away on May 14, 2023, in Großbottwar.
Her Musical Works
Viera Janárčeková mainly wrote music for small groups of instruments. These are called chamber ensembles. She also wrote pieces for single instruments.
