Viktória Hrunčáková (born Viktória Kužmová on May 11, 1998) is a professional tennis player from Slovakia. She has been ranked as high as No. 43 in singles and No. 27 in doubles by the Women's Tennis Association (WTA). Viktória has won five doubles titles on the WTA Tour. She also won 25 titles (17 in singles, 8 in doubles) on the ITF Circuit.
As a junior player, she won the girls' doubles event at the 2015 US Open. She won with her partner Aleksandra Pospelova. A year later, she reached the final of the 2016 US Open in girls' singles. As an adult, she reached the 2019 US Open semifinal in women's doubles. With the Slovakia team, she helped her country reach the final of the 2024 Billie Jean King Cup for the first time.

Early Life & Tennis Start
Viktória Kužmová was born in 1998 in Košice, Slovakia. Her parents are Ingrid and Radovan. Her younger sister, Katarina, also became a professional tennis player. Viktória started playing tennis at age four. Her father, who ran a tennis club, introduced her to the sport.
Junior Tennis Career
Viktória reached a high ranking of No. 24 as a junior player. She started playing on the ITF Junior Circuit in January 2012 when she was 13. Later that year, she won her first singles and doubles titles. In 2013, she won another singles title. She also won a doubles title at the Montenegro Open. An injury in 2013 forced her to take a break from tennis.
She returned in 2014 and reached her first Grade-2 final. She also won two Grade-1 doubles titles with Kristína Schmiedlová. Viktória played in her first junior Grand Slam at the French Open in 2014. She then played at Wimbledon and the US Open. At the US Open, she reached her first Grand Slam semifinal in doubles.
In January 2015, she played in her first Australian Open. She reached the third round in singles. At Wimbledon, she made it to her first singles Grand Slam semifinal. She won the 2015 US Open in doubles with Aleksandra Pospelova. The next year, she was a runner-up in singles at the US Open. She also won two doubles titles with her younger sister Katarina.
Professional Tennis Journey
Starting on the WTA Tour (2017-2018)
Viktória made her first appearance in a major tournament at the 2017 US Open. She won her first singles match on the WTA Tour at the Linz Open. In 2017, she also tried to qualify for the French Open and Wimbledon. By March 2017, she entered the top 200 players in the world. She finished 2017 ranked No. 132.
In 2018, Viktória played in her first Australian Open. She reached her first WTA semifinal at the Hungarian Open. After turning 20, she won a big $100k tournament in Slovakia. This helped her enter the top 100 for the first time. At her French Open debut, she won her first main-draw match at a Grand Slam. She also reached her second WTA singles semifinal at the Rosmalen Championships. By the end of 2018, she was ranked No. 56.
Big Steps in Singles & Doubles (2019)

Viktória started 2019 strong, reaching a semifinal at the Auckland Open. At the Dubai Tennis Championships, she reached her first quarterfinal at a Premier 5 event. She also earned her first win against a top-ten player, Kiki Bertens. At the Miami Open, she reached the third round.
During the clay-court season, she reached the third round of the Madrid Open. At the French Open, she reached the third round of a Grand Slam for the first time.
In doubles, 2019 was very successful. She reached three WTA doubles finals. She won two International-level titles: the Prague Open with Anna Kalinskaya and the Bucharest Open with Kristýna Plíšková. After reaching the semifinals at the US Open, she entered the top 30 in doubles for the first time.
Recent Years (2020-2024)
In 2020, Viktória reached her first singles quarterfinal of the year at the Lyon Open. In doubles, she reached her first Premier 5 semifinal at the Cincinnati Open with Iga Świątek.
In 2023, now playing as Hrunčáková, she won the doubles title at the Linz Open with Natela Dzalamidze. She also reached a singles semifinal at the Rosmalen Open. At the same tournament, she was a finalist in doubles with Tereza Mihalíková. She also reached the quarterfinals at the Guangzhou Open.
In 2024, Hrunčáková started the year by winning a doubles title at the Auckland Open with Anna Danilina. She played a key role for Team Slovakia in the 2024 Billie Jean King Cup finals. She helped her team reach the quarterfinals and then the semifinals. Slovakia reached the final for the first time, but lost to Italy.
Playing Style
Viktória Hrunčáková is known for her fast and strong style of play. She hits the ball with a lot of power from both sides of the court. Even though she grew up playing on clay courts, she prefers hardcourts. Her strong serve helps her win many points. She also enjoys playing on grass courts.

Personal Life
Viktória Hrunčáková lives in Košice, Slovakia. Besides tennis, she enjoys reading books and photography. Her favorite place is Long Island City. When she was growing up, she liked watching tennis players Ana Ivanovic and Rafael Nadal. She plays for the VSE TK Akademik Košice tennis club.
She won the award for Slovakian Talent of the Year in 2012 and 2014. In September 2022, she married her coach, Tomáš Hrunčák. She started competing under her married name, Hrunčáková, in April 2023.
