Villa María is a city in Córdoba Province, Argentina. It is the main city of the General San Martín Department. The city was founded on September 27, 1867, by Manuel Anselmo Ocampo.
Villa María is located in a very rich farming area. This region is especially known for producing a lot of milk, making it a leader in Argentina. About 79,356 people live in Villa María, based on the 2010 census. This makes it one of the biggest cities in the Córdoba Province.
The city is about 137 kilometers (85 miles) southeast of Córdoba, which is the capital city of the province. Villa María sits on the left bank of the Tercero River.
