History of Villa Riva
The area where Villa Riva is now was first settled in 1845. It was founded by President Pedro Santana and was known as El Cercado. Before becoming its own town, it was part of the Bánica municipality.
How Villa Riva Became a Town
A brave war veteran named Francisco Rodriguez helped El Cercado become a proper town. The first families to live here were the Monteros, de Oleos, Encarnacións, Matos, and Britos. People from El Cercado are known for being very welcoming and kind.
Early Economy and Communication
In the past, the main way people made a living was through farming. They raised cattle and grew crops like tobacco and coffee. They also produced honey and wax. For a long time, horses were the main way to travel and send mail.
Climate in Villa Riva
Villa Riva has a tropical rainforest climate. This means it's usually warm and gets a lot of rain all year round. It's like living in a big, green, natural greenhouse!
