Villalpando is a small town, also called a municipality, located in the province of Zamora. This area is part of Castile and León, which is an autonomous community in Spain. In 2018, about 1,519 people lived there.
History of Villalpando
Villalpando has a long and interesting history. Long ago, the town was famous for its saltpans. These were special areas where salt was collected from the ground. They were known as the Salinas de Villalpando.
The Medieval Gate
One of the oldest and most important parts of Villalpando is its medieval gate. This gate is called the Puerta de San Andrés. It was built a very long time ago, likely during the Middle Ages. It served as an entrance to the village.
