Øyvind Sauvik (born February 3, 1976), known by his stage name Vinni, is a popular Norwegian rapper and singer. He is famous for his solo music and for being part of the hip hop group Paperboys.
Vinni's Early Life and Music Journey
Growing Up in Africa
Vinni was born in Arendal, Norway. When he was three years old, he moved to Tanzania with his parents. His parents worked for NORAD, an organization that helps other countries develop. Vinni grew up in Africa and learned to speak Swahili there.
Starting with Paperboys
After returning to Norway, Vinni started a hip hop group called Paperboys. He formed it with Jarle "J.J." Hollerud. Later, DJ Ole Alexander "Pope Dawg" Halstensgård joined the group. In Paperboys, Øyvind Sauvik was known as Vincent Vagabond or just Vinni. The group released many successful albums together.
Vinni on TV Shows
In 2009, Vinni took part in a Norwegian TV show called Det store korslaget. This was a competition where different choirs battled it out. Vinni led a choir from Kolbotn, and they finished 5th out of 7 choirs.
He also competed in Zebra Grand Prix in 2009. This was a car racing show for celebrities. Vinni teamed up with Vibeke Klemetsen. They made it past the first round but were eliminated in the semi-finals.
Vinni and the Vagabonds
In 2010, Vinni started his own music project with a band called Vinni and the Vagabonds. They released an album called Happily Lost. This allowed him to explore his own musical style.
Hver gang vi møtes Success
Vinni also appeared on another TV show called Hver gang vi møtes. On this show, famous singers perform songs by other participants. Vinni's performances were very popular.

- When it was his turn, other singers performed Vinni's songs. Elvira Nikolaisen sang "Barcelona," and Jan Eggum sang "Tomorrow." Bertine Zetlitz sang "Change My Star," and Øystein Dolmen sang "Let the Monkey Out." Anne Grete Preus sang "Medisin," and Halvdan Sivertsen sang "Lonesome Traveller."
- He sang "Nothing to Lose" from Elvira Nikolaisen.
- He performed "God morgen Norge" by Øystein Dolmen.
A collection of these performances was released on an album called Venner. Vinni's version of "Sommerfuggel i vinterland" became very popular.
In 2012, "Sommerfuggel i vinterland" became a huge hit. It was number one on the VG-lista, Norway's official singles chart, for five weeks in a row. Then, another one of his songs from Hver gang vi møtes, "Godmorgen Norge," also reached number one. It stayed at the top for two more weeks. This meant Vinni had the number one song in Norway for seven weeks straight in 2012!
Because of this big success, Vinni released a third song called "Halve meg." It quickly reached number 4 on the Norwegian Singles Chart.
