What Makes a Place Historic?

A historic district is like a special club for old buildings. It means that a group of buildings in an area are important together. They show how people lived or what buildings looked like a long time ago. The Virginia Heights Historic District was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2008. This is a list of places in the United States that are worth saving and protecting.

A Look Back: How Virginia Heights Grew

The homes in Virginia Heights were mostly built between 1946 and 1952. This was right after World War II. The neighborhood grew from four smaller areas. These were Section Four of Columbia Forest, High Point, Virginia Heights, and Frederick Hill.

The houses in Virginia Heights show different styles of building. Many homes are in the Colonial Revival style. This style looks back to the homes built when America was first founded. Special Homes: Prefabricated and Lustron Houses
