Vishwesha Teertha facts for kids
Sri Vishwesha Tirtharu was an important Hindu spiritual leader from India. He was also known by his official name, Śrī Śrī 1008 Śrī Viśveśa-tīrtha Śrīpādaṅgaḷavaru. He lived from April 27, 1931, to December 29, 2019.
He was the head, or Swamiji, of the Sri Pejavara Adokshaja Matha. A "Matha" is like a monastery or a learning center for spiritual teachings. This Matha is one of the Ashta Mathas, which are eight important centers. These centers follow a special way of thinking called the Dvaita philosophy. This philosophy was started by a famous teacher named Sri Madhvacharya.
Sri Vishwesha Tirtharu was the 32nd leader in the line of the Pejavara Matha. This line started with Sri Adhokshaja Tirtharu. He was also the honorary president of Vishva Tulu Sammelana, which is a big gathering to celebrate the Tulu language and culture. He was born in a place called Ramakunja, India.
He passed away on December 29, 2019, at the age of 88. He died in a hospital in Pejawara Matha, Udupi, due to a lung illness called pneumonia.
