Vliets is a small, unincorporated community in Marshall County, Kansas, United States. This means it's a place where people live, but it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town. You can find Vliets at the very end of Kansas Highway 87.
A Look Back at Vliets
Vliets was first planned and set up in 1889. The community was named after the Van Vliet family. They were the original owners of the land where Vliets was built.
A post office opened in Vliets in 1897. It helped people send and receive mail for many years. However, the post office closed down in 1992.
Today, Vliets is a very small place. It has a Co-op, which is a business owned by its members. There is also a granary, which is a building used to store grain. You will find only about a dozen houses in Vliets now.
