How Vok Started
Before Vok Beverages became part of Bickford's Australia, "Vok" was a well-known brand of special flavored drinks. These drinks were made by a Dutch company named Jan Vok. They were very popular in a place called Papua before World War II.
Vok's Drinks After the War
After World War II ended, many different Vok flavors were brought into Australia. There were sixteen different kinds, from creamy drinks like Advocaat to citrus-flavored ones like White Curaçao. A company in Sydney, Stephen King Pty Ltd, helped distribute these drinks across Australia.
A Big Marketing Idea
Vok came up with a clever way to advertise their drinks. They created something called the "Vok Thousand" award. This was a prize of £1000 (one thousand pounds). This was a lot of money back then, enough to buy a good car! The award went to a top Test cricketer who earned the most points during the 1950–51 cricket season. The very first winner of this award was a famous cricketer named Len Hutton.

The company often advertised in Australian newspapers that were written in the Dutch language. They made sure to highlight the special shape of their bottles.
