Vroman, Colorado facts for kids
Vroman is a small, unincorporated community located in Otero County, in the U.S. state of Colorado. An "unincorporated community" means it's a place where people live, but it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town. Instead, it's governed by the county.
What is the History of Vroman?
Vroman wasn't always called Vroman! For a while, it was known as Weitzer. A post office, which is where people send and receive mail, was opened in Weitzer in 1908. Later, in 1918, the name of the community and the post office was changed to Vroman. This new name was chosen to honor a local pioneer, Mr. Vroman, who was an important person in the early days of the area. The post office eventually closed its doors in 1954.
