Woodrow Wilson Goode Jr. was born on August 9, 1965. He is an American politician who helped lead the city of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was a member of the Philadelphia City Council for many years, from 2000 to 2016.

Early Life and Education
Woodrow Wilson Goode Jr. was born in Philadelphia. His father, Wilson Goode, was once the Mayor of Philadelphia. Woodrow Jr. went to Central High School. After that, he studied at the University of Pennsylvania. He also continued his studies at Harvard Kennedy School.
Serving on the City Council
In 1999, Mr. Goode was elected as a City Councilman At-Large. This means he represented the entire city, not just one neighborhood. He was re-elected three more times, serving the people of Philadelphia for 16 years.
While on the City Council, he led important groups. He was the Chairman of the Committee on Appropriations. This group decided how the city's money would be spent. He also chaired the Committee on Commerce and Economic Development. This group worked on improving business and jobs in the city.
New Rules for Philadelphia
Mr. Goode helped create many new rules, called ordinances, for the city. He introduced over 145 of these new laws. Some of his ideas included:
- Giving more money to public schools.
- Helping local people get city jobs first.
- Making sure city workers earned a fair wage.
- Encouraging diversity in city contracts.
- Making sure banks treated everyone fairly when lending money.
- Helping businesses by removing some taxes.

Community Involvement and Awards
Mr. Goode was a founding member of Local Progress. This is a national group that helps city leaders share ideas. He also received several awards for his work. In 2006, he got a National Achievement Award. This was from the National Community Reinvestment Coalition.
In 2013, he received the Community Development Champion Award. This award recognized his efforts to improve communities. He also won the PA Working Families Legislator of the Year Award in 2015.
Mr. Goode is also a member of several important organizations. These include the Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity and the Sigma Pi Phi fraternity. He is also a member of the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons.
