WBZ-TV is a television station located in Boston, Massachusetts, in the United States. It is owned by a company called CBS. You can watch WBZ-TV on channel 4 if you live in eastern Massachusetts, Rhode Island, or southern New Hampshire.

The Story of WBZ-TV

WBZ-TV started broadcasting on June 9, 1948. This makes it the very first TV station in Boston. It is also the oldest TV station in all of the New England states.

When it first began, WBZ-TV was owned by a company called Westinghouse Electric Corporation. At that time, it showed programs from the NBC network.

Things changed on January 2, 1995. WBZ-TV stopped showing NBC programs. Instead, it started broadcasting shows from the CBS network. Before this, CBS shows were on WHDH-TV, which now shows NBC programs.

The main reason for this big switch was that Westinghouse Electric joined with CBS. Because of this, all TV channels owned by Westinghouse became CBS stations.
