WOW: The CatholicTV Challenge is a fun game show you can watch on the CatholicTV channel. It started in 2004 to help kids learn about the Catholic Faith in an easy and exciting way. The show features young contestants who answer questions and share their thoughts.

Show History

How It Started

The first episode of WOW: The CatholicTV Challenge aired on September 6, 2005. Father Robert Reed, who leads CatholicTV, created the show. The show's catchy title was thought up by Sean Ward, who works with new media at the network.

Early Interview Style (2005–2007)

For its first three seasons, the show was simply called WOW. It had a different style, similar to shows where kids share their funny thoughts. Young participants would talk about a special topic each day. They earned "Wowsers" (small foam shapes of the show's logo) for saying really thoughtful or "deep" things. At the end of the show, the child with the most Wowsers won a prize.

Quiz Game Format (2007-Present)

In 2007, the show changed to a question-and-answer game. Now, three children compete to answer questions about a daily theme, which they call a "Wudabout." An animated dog named "Nosey the Know-it-All Dog" introduces the contestants. Nosey also asks any tie-breaker questions and special "Super Challenge" questions.

Each round lasts five minutes. The child with the highest score moves on to the next stage. After three rounds, the three winners compete in the Final Challenge. The winner of this last round receives a prize. To help contestants, the show gives them all the questions and answers about a month before filming. This helps everyone learn and understand the basic Catholic beliefs.

Who Makes the Show?

As of 2016, Father Robert Reed is the host of the show. He is also one of the main people in charge, called an executive producer. Peter Kaminski produces and directs the show. Kevin Nelson, a senior producer at CatholicTV, is the announcer.
