Waaa!!! facts for kids
Waaa!!! was a super fun children's game show that aired on S4C during school holidays. It was a short show, only about ten minutes long, but packed with excitement! The show was presented by Tudur Owen and S4C's own Mari Lövgreen. They didn't appear on screen, but their voices guided the contestants through the challenges. The show was recorded at Antena's studios, located in Caernarfon on the Cibyn Industrial Estate.
How the Game Was Played
The game was all about answering questions and trying to avoid a messy splash! Contestants sat in a special chair that moved along rails. These rails were set up right above four big tanks. These tanks were filled with either foamy bubbles or gooey gunge.
The Tank Challenge
The tanks were filled in a specific order: first, foam; then, green gunge; next, more foam; and finally, red gunge. There was also a fifth tank filled with lots of colorful balls. While in the moving chair, contestants were asked questions.
- If a contestant answered a question correctly, their chair would move forward to the next tank.
- If they answered a question incorrectly, or if they didn't know the answer, they would be dropped right into the foam or gunge tank below them! If they landed in gunge, a clown would even throw more buckets of gunge on them!
Reaching the Ball Pit
The goal was to answer all five questions correctly. If a contestant managed to do this, they would reach the final tank: the ball pit! Here, they had to quickly collect as many silver balls as possible. The more silver balls they collected, the better their prize would be.
Time's Up!
Sometimes, the time would run out while a contestant was still in the chair. If this happened, the contestant would automatically be dropped into the foam or gunge tank directly below them. The show ended with a fun klaxon sound, just like a car horn beeping!
