Wahaʻakuna was an important noble lady from ancient Hawaii. She was a Chiefess on the island of Maui. You might also see her name spelled as Waohaʻakuna. She was part of the royal family of Maui, which means she was a very respected person in her time.

Her Life and Family

Wahaʻakuna was born a long time ago in ancient Hawaii. We don't know who her parents were, but she grew up to be a powerful figure.

She married a very important leader named High Chief Loe of Maui. He became the ruler of Maui after his father, Kamaloohua.

Wahaʻakuna and Loe had one son together. His name was Kahokuohua. He later became a Chief on the island of Molokai.

Wahaʻakuna's grandson was named Kaulahea. He followed in his grandfather Loe's footsteps and became the next ruler of Maui, known as Kaulahea I. Because of her son, Wahaʻakuna became an ancestor to many future rulers of Maui. This means her family line continued to lead the island for generations.

We don't know exactly when Wahaʻakuna passed away. It is believed she was buried on the island of Maui, her home.
