How Wakatomika Got Its Name
The name "Wakatomika" is very interesting! It comes from a Shawnee village that existed a long time ago. The Shawnee are a Native American tribe. Their village, also called Wakatomika, was located along the Muskingum River. This old village was near where the town of Dresden is today. So, the modern community of Wakatomika was named to remember this historic Shawnee place.
