Wakefield is located right on Kentucky Route 55. You can find it about halfway between two other Kentucky communities: Taylorsville and Bloomfield. It's a peaceful spot in the countryside.

A Glimpse into History

The name "Wakefield" comes from a very old farm called Wakefield Farm. This farm was important in history, especially during the American Civil War.

In May 1865, a leader named William Clarke Quantrill was ambushed at Wakefield Farm. He was a leader for the Confederate side during the war. Union soldiers were involved in this event, and Quantrill was killed. This happened right at the end of the Civil War.

Famous People from Wakefield

Wakefield is also the birthplace of a famous country musician. Bill Carlisle was born here in 1908. He became well-known for his music and songs.
