Taylorsville is a small city in Kentucky, United States. It is the main town, or county seat, of Spencer County. In 2020, about 1,256 people lived there. The city was officially started in 1829.

History of Taylorsville
Taylorsville was founded in 1798. It was built on land that belonged to Richard Taylor. He was the father of Zachary Taylor, who later became a US President. About 60 acres (24 hectares) of land were set aside for the town. Soon after, the town was named after Richard Taylor.
In 1815, the town of Taylorsville was officially recorded. Spencer County was created in 1823, and Taylorsville became its county seat.
During the American Civil War, a famous fighter named William Quantrill was killed near Taylorsville in 1865. He was a Confederate guerrilla, which means he fought in small, unofficial groups.
