The Waldorf Astoria Atlanta Buckhead is a very tall building, called a skyscraper. It is located in Atlanta, Georgia, in the United States. This amazing building stands 580 feet (177 meters) high.
It was built between 2006 and 2008 and has 42 floors. It is one of the tallest buildings in Atlanta. It is also one of the tallest residential buildings in the entire United States. The main design for the building was created by Robert A. M. Stern Architects. Another company, Milton Pate Architects, helped make the plans real.
Building History: How It Changed Names
This tall building cost about $197.4 million to build. It first opened its doors on May 1, 2008. Back then, it was known as The Mansion on Peachtree. A company called Rosewood Hotels & Resorts managed it.
Later, in 2010, the building was sold. It was then renamed Mandarin Oriental, Atlanta in 2012. The building was sold again in 2018. After this sale, it became known as the Waldorf Astoria Atlanta Buckhead.
What's Inside the Building?
The lower part of the building is a hotel. It has 127 rooms where people can stay. Above the hotel, there are 45 homes called residential units. These homes are spread out over 26 floors.
There are also special homes called "The Villas." These are in a separate building located in the English Gardens. The Villas are three private homes. Each one has three floors of living space. They also have their own private underground garages.
Places to Eat: Restaurants in the Building
Over the years, different restaurants have been part of this building. In 2008, a restaurant called Craft Atlanta opened. It was a new location for a famous New York restaurant. The inside of Craft Atlanta was designed by Bentel & Bentel Architects.
Craft Atlanta closed in 2010. Later, in 2012, a new restaurant opened in the same spot. This new place was called Del Frisco's Grille.
