Charles Edgar Walker Hayes (born December 27, 1979) is an American country pop singer and songwriter. He is known for his catchy songs and fun dances. He has released several studio albums, including Boom, Country Stuff the Album, and New Money.
Walker Hayes has had many songs become popular on the Billboard music charts. His most famous song, "Fancy Like", became a huge hit in 2021 and 2022. It reached number one on both the Hot Country Songs and Country Airplay charts.

Early Life and Music Start
Walker Hayes was born on December 27, 1979, in Mobile, Alabama. He grew up with eight older brothers and sisters. He loved music from a young age.
He went to St. Paul’s Episcopal School in Mobile. Later, he studied music at Birmingham–Southern College. In 2002, he earned a degree in music, focusing on playing the piano.

Early Days in Nashville
In 2005, Walker Hayes and his wife moved to Nashville, Tennessee. Nashville is known as the home of country music. Walker hoped to start his music career there.
He began by writing songs for a music company. Soon after, he signed a contract with a record label called Mercury Records Nashville. However, he later moved to Capitol Records Nashville.
First Songs and Albums
In 2010, Walker Hayes released his first song, "Pants". This song appeared on the Hot Country Songs charts. He also released a music video for it.
Walker Hayes even appeared on a TV show called 19 Kids and Counting. He sang a song he wrote for one of the show's stars. His first album for Capitol Records was called Reason to Rhyme. It included "Pants" and another song, "Why Wait for Summer".
After his time with Capitol Records, Walker Hayes worked at a Costco store. This helped him support his family while he kept working on his music dreams.
Breakthrough with New Music
In 2016, Walker Hayes signed a new deal with Shane McAnally. This led to him releasing two short albums, called extended plays (EPs): 8Tracks Vol. 1 and 8Tracks Vol. 2.
Soon after, he released "You Broke Up with Me" with Monument Records. This song became his first big hit on the Billboard charts. It was also featured on his album Boom. In 2018, he released another song called "90's Country". This song had many references to popular country songs from the 1990s.
"Fancy Like" and Recent Hits
On June 4, 2021, Walker Hayes released an EP called Country Stuff. One song from this EP, "Fancy Like", became incredibly popular. It went viral on TikTok, a social media app. Many people made videos dancing to the song.
"Fancy Like" reached number 3 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart. It also hit number 1 on the Hot Country Songs chart. This made it his biggest song yet. The songs from the Country Stuff EP were also included on his 2022 album, Country Stuff the Album. Other popular songs from this album include "U Gurl" and "AA".
In July 2022, he released the song "Y'all Life". In 2023, he released an EP called Strait Two Stepping. This EP had two songs, "Stetson" and "Show Me the Country". These songs later appeared on his album New Money, which came out in September 2023.
In July 2024, Walker Hayes worked with Canadian rapper Connor Price on a song called "Smoke". Later, in August 2024, he released "Ball Player". He said this song was an "apology to his kids" about his feelings on their sports careers. In October 2024, he announced his next song, "5 to 9", which he believes will be even bigger than "Fancy Like".

Walker Hayes lives in Estill Springs, Tennessee. He is married to Laney Beville Hayes, and they have six children. The couple got married in 2004.
Walker Hayes is a Christian. He has also been sober since 2015. This means he has not consumed alcohol since then.
