Wallace is a small community located in Buchanan County, Missouri, in the United States. It is not a city with its own government, but a place where people live together. Wallace is found about twelve miles northwest of Platte City. The local post office in Wallace has closed. Mail for residents now comes from the nearby town of Dearborn.

This community is part of the larger St. Joseph, Missouri, and Kansas area. This bigger area is known as the Metropolitan Statistical Area.

History of Wallace

Wallace officially started in 1872. The community was named after an important person who worked for the railroad. In 1877, Wallace got its own post office. This post office served the community for many years. It stayed open until 1966.

On April 10, 1965, a very strong tornado hit Wallace. This tornado was part of a bigger storm system. It caused a lot of damage to buildings and homes in the area. Luckily, no one died because of the tornado. However, 11 people were hurt during the storm. The damage caused by the tornado was estimated to be between 50,000 and 500,000 dollars.
