Walt Disney Television is a part of The Walt Disney Company. It creates and produces many TV shows. This division was once known as Walt Disney Productions. It changed its name to Walt Disney Pictures in 1985.
Walt Disney Television's shows are shown on many channels. These include Disney Channel, Playhouse Disney, Toon Disney, and ABC. They also appear on Disney Cinemagic and other platforms. These platforms are all owned by the Disney-ABC Television Group.
History of Disney Television
The television production part of Disney started in 1983. It was first called the Walt Disney Pictures Television Division. This name was later made shorter to Walt Disney Pictures Television.
In 1986, the name became even shorter. It was then known as Walt Disney Television by 1988. Before 1983, all Disney shows were shown under the main company's name. That company was then called Walt Disney Productions.
