Occupation English Poet

Walter Davison (born December 17, 1581, in London) was an English poet. He likely passed away around 1608 when he was about 27 years old.

Walter Davison's Life

Walter Davison was the fourth and youngest son of William Davison. His father was an important government official, known as a secretary of state. Walter's mother was Catharine, the daughter of Francis Spelman.

In 1596, Walter attended King's College, Cambridge. However, he left the university without finishing his degree. Around 1602, he served as a soldier in the Low Countries.

Walter Davison is not mentioned in his father's will, which was written on December 18, 1608. This suggests that Walter had probably already died by that time.

His Poems and Writings

Walter Davison wrote eighteen poems that were included in the first version of a book called Poetical Rhapsody. This collection of poems was put together by his brother, Francis Davison, in 1602.

Walter was quite young when he wrote these poems. He was under eighteen years old at the time.
