Wanatah is a small town located in LaPorte County, Indiana, in the United States. In 2010, about 1,048 people lived there. By 2020, the population was 1,009.

Wanatah began to be settled in the 1850s. This happened when the railroad lines reached the area. The town was officially planned and mapped out in 1865. Its name comes from Wanata, who was a respected Native American leader.
