Wanda Koop is a famous Canadian artist. She lives and works in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Besides being an artist, she also helps her community. She started Art City, a free art center for young people in Winnipeg.

Wanda Koop was born on November 5, 1951. Her birthplace was Vancouver, British Columbia. Her parents were German-speaking Mennonites from Ukraine. Wanda studied art at the Lemoine FitzGerald School of Art. This school is part of the University of Manitoba. She graduated in 1973.

Wanda Koop has received many important awards.

  • In 2002, she got the Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Medal.

Wanda Koop often mixes different art forms. She uses video, performance, and photography in her work. She likes to explore new ways of using paint and video. Her art often talks about feelings like loss and finding things again.

One of her famous series is "Barcode Face." These artworks show a new kind of Canadian landscape. She brought this series back in 2021. It was part of a group show in New York City.
