Warriorstand (sometimes called Warrior Stand) is a small, unincorporated community. It is located in Macon County, Alabama, in the United States. An unincorporated community means it's a group of homes and businesses that isn't officially a town or city.

A Look Back: History of Warriorstand

Long ago, before European-American settlers arrived, the lands of Macon County were home to the Creek Indians. They were the original inhabitants of this area.

Around 1805, an important path called the Old Federal Road was built. This road went right through the Creek Nation. It connected Milledgeville, Georgia to Fort Stoddert in what was then the Mississippi Territory. The United States government allowed the Creek people to set up "houses of entertainment" along this road. These were like inns or taverns for travelers.

One such tavern was built at a place called "Warrior Stand." This stop was owned by Big Warrior, who was a very important leader of the Creek people. Many famous people traveled this road. In 1824–1825, a French hero named Marquis de Lafayette visited the United States. His group even stayed one night at the tavern in Warrior Stand.

The community also had a Methodist Episcopalian Church. There was also a Masonic Grand Lodge, which is a type of community organization.
