The Medieval Museum

The Medieval Museum is close to Cathedral Square. This museum lets you step back into the Middle Ages. It has two amazing old rooms. One is the 13th-century Choristers’ Hall. The other is the 15th-century Mayor’s Wine Vault.

A very special item here is a cloth cap. It is the only piece of clothing known to have belonged to King Henry VIII.

The Bishop's Palace Museum

The Bishop's Palace Museum is also near Cathedral Square. This building is 250 years old and has a beautiful Georgian style. Inside, you can see items from the 1600s right up to today. It shows how people lived in Waterford through different centuries.

French Church: A Place of Peace

Another important old building is the French Church. It is also known as Greyfriars Abbey. This church is on Bailey's New St./Greyfriars. It was built in the 13th century as a friary, which is a type of monastery.

Right next to Reginald's Tower, you can see a replica Viking longship. This boat is 12 feet long. A local shipwright built it. It was sailed locally before being put on display on Parade Quay.

Cathedral Square is where you will find Christchurch Cathedral. Nearby, you can also see the Theatre Royal. The Mall, close to Waterford Crystal, is a very historic building. This is where Thomas Francis Meagher held meetings. It is also where the Irish Tricolour flag was first shown in 1848.
