Wayan, Idaho facts for kids

Kids Encyclopedia Facts

Wayan is a small community in Idaho, United States. It's not a city or town with its own government, which is why it's called an unincorporated community. Wayan is found about 35 miles north of Soda Springs in Caribou County. You can find it right on State Highway 34, in a beautiful area known as Grays Lake valley. The community even has its own zip code, 83285. Wayan got its name from the very first postmaster and his wife who lived there.

Climate in Wayan

The weather in Wayan is measured by a special station called Somsen Ranch, which is a SNOTEL weather station. SNOTEL stands for "Snow Telemetry," and these stations help scientists track snow and weather conditions in mountain areas. This information is important for understanding how much water will be available from melting snow.

Below is a table that shows the typical weather in Wayan over many years. It includes how hot or cold it usually gets, the highest and lowest temperatures ever recorded, and how much rain and snow falls each month.
