Wayuu facts for kids
The Wayúu are a large group of native people. They live on the La Guajira Peninsula. This area is located between the countries of Colombia and Venezuela. The Wayúu have a rich culture and history.
Where the Wayúu Live
The Wayúu people call the La Guajira Peninsula their home. This peninsula is a piece of land that sticks out into the Caribbean Sea. It is shared by two countries: Colombia and Venezuela. Two important rivers flow through this land. The Ranchería River is in Colombia. The El Limón River is in Venezuela. Because it can be dry, the Wayúu and other local people build ponds. These ponds help them save water from the rainy season.
