The Story of the Dinosaurs
One day, long ago in the Cretaceous Period, a Tyrannosaurus named Rex was about to eat a smaller dinosaur. Suddenly, a flying saucer appeared! A small, reptile-like alien named Vorb was flying it. Vorb captured Rex and other dinosaurs.
How Dinosaurs Became Smart
Vorb had found several dinosaurs for a special test. These included Bgon the Apatosaurus, Woog the Triceratops, and Spike the Stegosaurus. Vorb gave them a special "vitamin." This vitamin made the dinosaurs able to think and feel, like humans.
Journey to New York City
Vorb took the smart dinosaurs aboard his spaceship. They traveled through time to the present day. Vorb dropped them off in New York City. At that moment, the city was celebrating the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
Hiding in the Parade
The dinosaurs tried to blend in with the parade. They pretended to be giant inflatable balloons. But Rex made a mistake. He thought a real dinosaur balloon was his friend, Worgul. Rex accidentally popped the balloon. This broke their disguise. The crowd panicked when they saw real dinosaurs.
Finding a Safe Place
The police soon arrived to catch the dinosaurs. But a kind person helped them. Dr. Miriam Bleeb, who worked at the American Museum of Natural History, took them in. She hid them from the police. The dinosaurs pretended to be life-size models. This tricked the police, who left to search elsewhere. Dr. Bleeb let the dinosaurs stay for the night. She read them a bedtime story. The dinosaurs watched the city lights, unsure about their future.
The Movie Version
The book was later made into an animated movie. It came out in 1993. The famous director Steven Spielberg helped produce it. His animation studio, Amblimation, made the film. Universal Pictures released it to theaters.
