Webster "Webby" Leotis Garrison (born August 24, 1965) is an American former professional baseball infielder. An infielder is a player who plays in the inner part of the baseball field. He is now a coach and manager in the Minor League Baseball system for the Oakland Athletics. Minor League Baseball is where players develop their skills before playing in the big leagues.
Playing Baseball
Webster Garrison was born in Marrero, Louisiana. He was chosen by the Toronto Blue Jays in the second round of the 1983 amateur draft. This means the Blue Jays picked him to join their team from a group of young players.
He played for the A's in 1996. He played in 5 games and had 9 chances to hit the ball, but he did not get any hits.
Coaching Baseball
Garrison started his coaching career in 1999. He began with the Athletics' Double-A team, the Midland RockHounds. In 1999, he was a rare player-coach. This means he played in 43 games while also teaching the team how to hit.
From 2011 to 2013, he was the manager for the Stockton Ports. In 2015, he managed the Nashville Sounds. Then, in 2016 and 2017, he managed the Arizona League Athletics. He was then promoted to manage the Class A Beloit Snappers in 2018.
In 2019, he went back to managing the Ports. In 2020, he was assigned to manage a rookie-league team in Arizona. This marked his 22nd year working with the A's organization. In 2015, he was named the "Banner Island Ballpark All-Time Manager."
