What Does "Eau Galle" Mean?
The name Eau Galle comes from the Eau Galle River. Some people thought it meant "bitter water." However, the name actually comes from the French phrase Au Galet, which means "with the gravel-bank." The French words Eau (water) and au (with the) sound very similar, which might have caused the confusion.
