Welda's Story: A Look Back
Welda was officially planned and laid out in 1873. This happened soon after a railroad line reached the area in 1870. The town's post office opened in 1874. It was likely named after a town called Welda in Germany.
The old railroad tracks in Welda have been changed into a special path. This path is now part of the Prairie Spirit Trail State Park. It's a great place for walking, running, and biking.
