Welty is a small place in Okfuskee County, Oklahoma, United States. It is an unincorporated community, which means it doesn't have its own local city government. The community was named after Edwin A. Welty, who helped develop the area. Welty's post office first opened on October 12, 1905. Jerimiah D. Wilson was the very first postmaster there.
