Wendy Onyinye Osefo was born on May 21, 1984. She is a Nigerian-American who works as a political expert and a university professor. You might also know her as a TV personality. She is a main cast member on the show The Real Housewives of Potomac. Wendy has also been recognized for her work in journalism.
Early Life and Education
Wendy Osefo was born into an Igbo family in Nigeria. When she was three years old, her family moved to the United States. They first lived in Durham, North Carolina, and later settled in Maryland.
She went to Temple University and earned a bachelor's degree in political science. Later, she received a master's degree in government from Johns Hopkins University. In 2012, Wendy completed another master's degree. This one was in public affairs from Rutgers University–Camden. She focused on how communities grow and develop.
In 2016, Wendy made history. She became the first Black woman to earn a Ph.D. (a very high degree) in public affairs and community development from Rutgers University-Camden. Her special research project was about helping parents with lower incomes get involved in schools.
Career and Work
Wendy Osefo is a writer and expert for The Hill, a well-known news outlet. She also started her own company called 1954 Equity, where she is the chief executive officer. Before that, she was a professor at the Johns Hopkins School of Education.
In 2014, she helped start a new master's degree program. She was the first director of the Master of Arts in Management Program at Goucher College.
Wendy has also served on the boards of several important organizations. These include the Youth to Israel Program, the Children's Scholarship Fund Baltimore, and The Education Foundation of Baltimore County Schools.
In 2020, it was announced that Wendy Osefo joined the fifth season of The Real Housewives of Potomac.

- In 2017, Face2Face Africa named her one of 12 Pan African Women to Watch.
- She received the Outstanding Graduate Award from Johns Hopkins University in 2017.
- Also in 2017, she got the Distinguished Recent Alumni Award from Johns Hopkins University.
- She is also a recipient of the Diversity Recognition Award.
- The Baltimore Business Journal included her in their 2017 "40 Under 40" list. This list highlights 40 successful people under the age of 40.
- The Baltimore Sun named Wendy Osefo as one of their "25 Women to Watch."
- In 2018, she was honored as a Black Woman in Media for her work in television.
Personal Life
Wendy Osefo married Edward Osefo in August 2011. They live in Finksburg, Maryland, with their three children. Their family life is often shown on The Real Housewives of Potomac. The Osefo family is Catholic.
Wendy is also a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority. This is a group for college-educated women.
She supported Kamala Harris in the 2024 United States presidential election.
