Wesley W. Simina, born on September 10, 1961, is a well-known politician from the Federated States of Micronesia. He currently serves as the President of the Federated States of Micronesia, a role he started in 2023. Before becoming president, he held several other important positions in his country's government.

Early Political Career
Wesley Simina began his journey in public service as the Governor of Chuuk State. Chuuk is one of the four states that make up the Federated States of Micronesia. He served as governor from July 2005 to July 2011.
Re-election as Governor
In 2009, Wesley Simina was re-elected for a second term as the governor of Chuuk. He won a special election against Gillian N. Doone. Simina and his Lieutenant Governor, Johnson Elimo, officially started their second terms on July 2, 2009. The inauguration ceremony took place in Weno, Chuuk.
Moving to the National Congress
In July 2011, Simina decided to step down as governor. He chose to become an at-large senator for Chuuk in the national Congress of the Federated States of Micronesia. When he resigned, his Lieutenant Governor, Johnson Elimo, became the acting governor. Elimo later won a special election to serve the rest of Simina's term as governor.
Serving in the Congress
After joining the national Congress, Wesley Simina continued to rise in leadership. On May 11, 2015, he was elected as the Speaker of the Congress of the Federated States of Micronesia. The Speaker is a very important role, similar to the leader of a parliament or congress in other countries.
Becoming President
On May 11, 2023, Wesley Simina reached the highest political office in his country. He was elected as the President of the Federated States of Micronesia during a session of the 23rd Congress. As president, he is the head of state and government for the entire nation.
