Wesley Simina, born on September 10, 1961, is an important politician from Micronesia. He is currently the 10th President of the Federated States of Micronesia, a role he started in 2023. Before becoming president, he served as the Speaker of the Congress of the Federated States of Micronesia from 2015 to 2023. He was also a member of Congress from 2011 to 2023 and the Governor of Chuuk from 2005 to 2011.

Early Life and Education
Wesley W. Simina was born on September 10, 1961. He completed his high school education at Chuuk High School. Later, he attended Jacksonville State University. He then moved to the San Diego campus of the United States International University. In 1982, he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from there. He continued his studies at the William S. Richardson School of Law in 1986. He graduated with a Juris Doctor degree in 1988.
Political Career Highlights
Starting as a Lawyer
After finishing college, Simina returned to Chuuk. He worked as an intern for the Chuuk Public Defender's Office for four years. From 1988 to 1991, he was the Directing Attorney. This role covered the Public Defender Office in Kosrae and Chuuk. In 1991, he became a legislative counsel for the Chuuk State Legislature. He served as Attorney General for Chuuk from 1993 to 1997. After leaving this office, he worked as a private lawyer for seven years. In 2001, Simina was chosen as Chuuk's representative. He served in the 3rd constitutional convention.
Serving as Governor of Chuuk
In 2005, Simina was elected as the Governor of the Chuuk State. He won the election again in 2009. This election went to a second round of voting. He defeated Gillian N. Doone in that runoff. In 2011, Johnson Elimo won a special election. He took over as Governor after Simina was elected to the national Congress.
Joining the National Congress
Simina was elected to the Congress of the Federated States of Micronesia in a special election in 2011. He was reelected in the 2015 elections. On May 11, 2015, his fellow members of Congress chose him. He became the 6th Speaker of the Congress. As Speaker, he led the meetings and discussions. During his time in Congress, he was part of several important committees. He was a member of the Education, External Affairs, and Transportation and Communications committees. He also chaired the Judiciary and Governmental Operations committee.
Becoming President
On May 11, 2023, the Congress elected Wesley Simina. He became the 10th President of the Federated States of Micronesia. This is the highest leadership position in the country.
Personal Life
Wesley Simina is married to Ancelly. Together, they have eight children.
