West Grand Bahama is one of the 31 districts in The Bahamas. It covers the entire western part of Grand Bahama island. However, it does not include the city of Freeport, which is its own separate district.
Many communities are part of West Grand Bahama. These include Mack Town, Hunters, Lewis Yard, Pinder's Point, Eight Mile Rock, Hepburn Town, Bartlett Hill, Hanna Hill, Pine Dale, Martin Town, Russell Town, Jones Town, Sea Grape, Holmes Rock, Bootle Bay, and the very westernmost settlement called West End.
How West Grand Bahama Is Organized
West Grand Bahama is divided into four main areas, often called townships. Each of these townships has its own chairperson, who helps lead the local government. These townships are:
- Township of West End
- Township of Eight Mile Rock West
- Township of Eightmile Rock East
- Township of Pinder's Point
